The Hodgdon House of Hope

A Story of Good Stewardship

Good stewardship matters to Bob and Janie Hodgdon. After years of building a successful business in the sporting goods industry, their philanthropy goals are driving them to invest in partners who provide maximum impact for each dollar given. The Hodgdons and C3 are a perfect match. Through C3, the Hodgdons have built and support the Hodgdon House of Hope in Casa Major, Haiti. An entire home! 60 children!

As our bus left, the Hodgdons could not leave the children they just embraced behind. They committed in a huge way.

January 2007. Casa Major, Haiti. Bob Hodgdon and his wife, Janie, took a C3 vision trip to Haiti to see, first hand, the C3 model. A “cluster” ideal for C3’s model was set up in the impoverished village of Casa Major: local church (thriving), school, micro-enterprise, and a roughly 2 acre parcel of vacant land (ready for two children’s homes). As the sun began to set, local villagers - mostly children and many orphaned - flocked to the open field when they saw us. We were there to show our guests how a “cluster” develops, and to pray for the orphans who would one day thrive in C3 homes at this site. Rob Boyer was there, too. As we joined hands in a circle to pray, little children (none of whom spoke English) took our hands and joined in the circle. It was absolutely incredible! These children just wanted to touch us, to feel a hug, to experience love. And we gave them all of the love that we could in a short time. Then it was time to go.

As our bus left, the Hodgdons could not leave the children they just embraced behind. They committed in a huge way.

Through C3, the Hodgdons have made the Hodgdon House of Hope at Casa Major their family ministry. They funded $25,000 to build the home. And they provide the monthly support to care for the 60 children who now have a home. Not one dime of the committed funds went/will go to C3 overhead - all of it goes to support the 60 children at the home. With Rob Boyer’s duplicate commitment, 120 orphaned children have found hope at Casa Major! That is an eternal investment with an unbelievable return.

This ministry has changed the Hodgdons, and they will not be stopped. In November 2007, the Hodgdons have agreed to partner with C3 to develop a second home. 60 more children!

C3 has individuals, families, churches, and companies stepping-up, like the Hodgdons, to take drastic action for a drastic need. And the blessings they receive far exceed the currency spent. If you would like to partner with C3 to build or support a home, please contact us.

Find out how you can make a difference in these childrens’ lives, like Bob and Janie did! Partner with C3.
