Transformation - The Story of Adens
It’s hard to get one’s arms around the plight of the abandoned children in third world countries. We hear about overwhelming tragedies and statistics and it numbs us. But there is great hope. And we can appreciate that hope better when we think specifically and faithfully, and not generally and hopelessly. That brings us to little Adens, one of the C3 children in Les Cayes, Haiti.
Adens provides a specific and typical example of how God uses C3 to transform lives.
The caretakers at a C3 funded orphanage in Les Cayes found Adens in a trash dump. They found him fumbling around trying to grip pieces of trash and put the trash to his mouth, struggling with his motor skills. Malnourished and near death, he didn’t even know how to eat the trash. He only knew, instinctively, how to put things in his mouth. After all, that’s what 12 month old children do. Yes, that’s right. He was about 12 months old when he was left to fend for himself on a trash heap! The caretakers took in Adens, and began nursing him back to health. Adens is now thriving. He’s even a bit chubby - praise the Lord!
Adens will eat and grow at a C3 funded orphanage. He will receive necessary medical care. As he develops, he will also develop in Christ. He will understand that God loves him, specially and specifically. He will go from a trash heap to a school room. He’ll learn to read and write. He will be better educated than 70% of the adults in Haiti, and he will have the humility of the Gospel to properly utilize his education.

At C3, we don’t pretend to know the totality of God’s plan for Adens. But, we do know that our Father didn’t want us to let this child starve trying to eat trash. That’s not too difficult to understand. That’s where C3’s call begins.
At C3, we don’t drop our heads thinking about the staggering statistics and discouraging generalities. We think about the children we can reach, like Adens. God has wonderful plans for each of these children, and we feel blessed to play a small role in the unfurling of His plans.
